AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 57-1-45, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE REIMBURSEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION FOR ALL EXPENSES PAID BY THE DEPARTMENT TO IMPLEMENT THE DEDICATION OF A ROAD OR BRIDGE, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE DEPARTMENT TO BE REIMBURSED FOR ALL EXPENSES TO IMPLEMENT THE DEDICATION FROM THE STATE HIGHWAY FUND WHICH MUST BE APPROVED BY A MAJORITY OF THE SENATORS AND HOUSE MEMBERS REPRESENTING THE COUNTY AFFECTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Department to be reimbursed

SECTION 1. Section 57-1-45 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 57-1-45. Whenever a road or bridge is dedicated and named in honor of an individual by act of the General Assembly, the Department of Highways and Public Transportation must be reimbursed all expenses paid by the Department to implement the dedication from the funds in the state highway fund. The expenses incurred by the Department must be first approved by a majority of the House members and a majority of the Senators representing the county or counties affected."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
