The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Eternal God and Father, in these moments we would climb the stairway of prayer that leads to the upper room of Your Presence. Now, as always, You are our Refuge and Strength, our ever present Help. Make bright the light of faith in our hearts that we may walk confidently through the tangled trails and maddening maze of our lives. Guide our feet in the ways we should go that we might walk unfalteringly and without fear. May we show forth the teachings of Your Word, expand our knowledge of human needs, and extend our horizons to more perfect endeavors. Keep open our ears that we may hear and heed the admonition of the Psalmist: "Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it" (Psalms 34:15).
In the Name of Jesus, our Lord, we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
