AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTIONS 14-7-845 AND 22-2-85 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT JURY SERVICE FOR STUDENTS IS, UPON REQUEST, POSTPONED UNTIL A DATE THAT DOES NOT CONFLICT WITH THE SCHOOL TERM.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Jury service of students
SECTION 1. Article 7, Chapter 7, Title 14 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 14-7-845. If a student selected for jury service during the school term so requests, his service must be postponed to a date that does not conflict with the school term. For purposes of this section, a student is a person enrolled in high school or an institution of higher learning, including technical college."

Time effective
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
