AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-490, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DEFINITIONS PERTAINING TO ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN, SO AS TO REVISE THE CIRCUMSTANCES UNDER WHICH THE ABANDONMENT OF A CHILD CAUSES HARM TO A CHILD'S HEALTH OR WELFARE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Abandonment of a child; harm to his health or welfare

SECTION 1. Section 20-7-490(C)(4) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(4) Abandons the child under circumstances which indicate no intention to return."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
