AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING CHAPTER 71 TO TITLE 2 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR ADDITIONAL LEGISLATIVE MEMBERS ON BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE AGRICULTURE AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEES OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE AND THE FISH, GAME AND FORESTRY COMMITTEE OF THE SENATE; AND TO AMEND SECTION 2-11-10, RELATING TO THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE CHAIRMAN OF THE JUDICIARY OF THE SENATE TO APPOINT A DESIGNEE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Additional legislative members
SECTION 1. Title 2 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"CHAPTER 71
Additional Legislative Members on Boards and
Commissions Under Jurisdiction of the
Agriculture and Natural Resources Committees
of Both Houses and the
Fish, Game and Forestry Committee
of the Senate
Section 2-71-10. Two nonvoting members are added to the State Land Resources Conservation Commission and South Carolina Water Resources Commission. One member on each commission is the chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee or his designee from that committee, and the other member is the chairman of the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee or his designee from that committee. Two nonvoting members are added to the State Forestry Commission. One member is the chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee or his designee from that committee, and the other member is the chairman of the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee or his designee from that committee. The two additional ex officio members under this section may not receive compensation for serving on the named commissions but are allowed the usual mileage, per diem, and subsistence as provided by law for members of state boards, committees, and commissions."
Legislative Council, membership
SECTION 2. Section 2-11-10 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 2-11-10. There is hereby created a Legislative Council of the General Assembly of South Carolina, the membership of which shall be composed of the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of State, the chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the Senate or his designee, and the chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives."
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
