AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 857 OF 1952, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE SPARTANBURG COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, SO AS TO DELETE PROVISIONS WHICH STATE WHEN OFFICERS OF THE BOARD ARE ELECTED.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Officers of the board, meetings

SECTION 1. Section 4 of Act 857 of 1952 is amended to read:

"Section 4. At the first meeting of the county board of education provided for in this act the board shall organize and elect from its membership a chairman and a vice-chairman. The county board of education may designate one of its members as secretary of the board and the county superintendent of education as assistant secretary. The board shall hold regular monthly meetings which must be open to the public and special meetings at such other times as may be necessary. Members of the board must be reimbursed for any travel expenses incurred in carrying on official business of the board."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
