AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 1182 OF 1968, RELATING TO THE DUNKLIN FIRE DISTRICT IN GREENVILLE COUNTY, SO AS TO INCREASE THE AUTHORIZED INDEBTEDNESS FROM TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND TO ONE HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Authorized indebtedness increased
SECTION 1. Section 5 of Act 1182 of 1968 is amended to read:
"Section 5. The board has the following duties:
(1) buy fire-fighting equipment the board considers necessary for controlling fires within the money allocated or made available to the board for those purposes;
(2) select the sites or places within the area where fire-fighting equipment is kept;
(3) provide and select drivers and other volunteer firemen who serve without compensation to man the equipment;
(4) procure and supervise the training of the volunteer firemen selected so that the equipment is utilized in the best interest of the area;
(5) be responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and repairs of the trucks and other fire-fighting equipment and, as often as is considered necessary, inspect the equipment;
(6) promulgate regulations it may consider proper and necessary to ensure that the equipment is being used to the best advantage of the area;
(7) buy land and construct, if necessary, buildings to house the equipment;
(8) borrow not exceeding one hundred fifty thousand dollars on terms and for a period the board may consider most beneficial for the fire district in anticipation of taxes. The indebtedness must be evidenced by a note issued by the members of the board and the county treasurer. The full faith, credit, and taxing power of the Dunklin Fire District is pledged irrevocably for the payment of the indebtedness."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
