A JOINT RESOLUTION TO DIRECT THE COMPTROLLER GENERAL'S OFFICE TO STUDY ADDITIONAL WAYS OF NOTIFYING PERSONS ELIGIBLE FOR A HOMESTEAD TAX EXEMPTION TO ENABLE THEM TO APPLY BEFORE THE DEADLINE.

Whereas, persons eligible for a homestead tax exemption fail to apply for the exemption in a timely manner due to lack of information. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Study notification of homestead tax exemption deadline

SECTION 1. The South Carolina Comptroller General's office is directed to study additional ways of notifying persons eligible for a homestead tax exemption to enable them to apply before the deadline.

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
