The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

O God our Father, Who did cause the light to shine out of darkness, shine upon our way that we may see the road we should take. Send us into the duties of this day in the knowledge, sure and certain, of Your presence that would make us adequate for every activity, equal to every experience, and a match for every mood. Make us understanding in our dealings with others and to live our lives as to maintain the respect of those around us. Keep our hearts grateful, our words good and our hands ready to help. Give us the assurance spoken of by the Psalmist: "The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth" (Psalm 145:18).

In Jesus' Name we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
