The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Eternal God, without Whose guidance our wisdom is weak, we pray that we may see clearly Your leadership and that we will follow it always. Give us a steadfast confidence as our trust is stayed in You. May we guard our words with understanding charity. Spare us from ingratitude and pettiness, from turning coward when the going is difficult. We thank You for lessons learned on the road of life as we are warned by our mistakes, encouraged by our successes, and enriched by every experience. Give us the knowledge of Your continued help as we face the challenges of this day and the problems of tomorrow.

Make us to hear clearly the words of the Psalmist: "God is our Refuge and Strength, a very present Help" (Psalm 46:1).

In the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
