A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE WAGENER-SALLEY GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM FOR WINNING THE 1991 STATE CLASS A SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that the Wagener-Salley girls softball team defeated a fine Aynor team 4-3 to win the 1991 State Class A girls softball championship; and

Whereas, this tremendous victory capped an outstanding 21-2 season for the Lady War Eagles and was their second straight victory in the best-of-three series for the state championship; and

Whereas, the accomplishments of the team during the regular season and the district, upper state, and state playoffs, proved that Wagener-Salley has one of the most outstanding girls softball programs in South Carolina; and

Whereas, the Lady War Eagles were led this year by Head Coach Marcia Lee Blizzard, together with volunteer assistant coach Ralph Stroman, and their remarkable gifts and talents as coaches are a big reason for the team's success; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate the Wagener-Salley girls softball team and each of the fine young ladies who are members of the team upon the occasion of their truly deserved state championship. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Wagener-Salley girls softball team for winning the 1991 State Class A softball championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Marcia Lee Blizzard, and the principal of Wagener-Salley High School.
