A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO WELCOME THE SOUTH ATLANTIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE OF DELTA SIGMA THETA SORORITY TO GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA AND WISH IT SUCCESS IN ITS PROGRAMS TO PROVIDE SERVICES AND PROMOTE HUMAN WELFARE.

Whereas, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a public service sorority, is a private nonprofit organization whose purpose is to provide services and programs to promote human welfare; and

Whereas, the sorority's goals are centered around the organization's five-point program thrusts, economic development, political awareness and involvement, physical and mental health and international awareness and involvement; and

Whereas, it is a sisterhood of 180,000 predominantly black college trained women, with over 800 chapters nationwide, and internationally in West Germany, Haiti, Liberia, Virgin Islands, Bermuda, and the Bahamas; and

Whereas, the South Atlantic Region of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is comprised of the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina including 136 chapters; and

Whereas, the South Atlantic Regional Conference convening in Greenville, South Carolina, June 19-23, 1991 will consider these major program thrusts in keeping with the conference theme "Igniting A New Vision". Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly welcome Delta Sigma Theta Sorority to Greenville, South Carolina for its South Atlantic Regional Conference and wish it success in its programs to provide services and promote human welfare.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Atlantic Region of Delta Sigma Theta.
