Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-25-135. This requirement applies if the teacher is full-time or part-time. The portion of credit given may be determined based upon the `FTE Conversion Table' used by the department.
(B) A teacher that wants to increase his certificate based upon subsection (A) for previous years of experience must provide the department with any document it may require to establish the teaching experience. The department is not required to upgrade all teacher certificates pursuant to subsection (A) absent a specific request by a teacher.
(C) The department may establish guidelines for computing summer school credit in conformity with subsection (A)."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
