A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE DR. GERALD R. HASTY FOR RECEIVING THE TITLE OF PROFESSOR EMERITUS IN HISTORY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE FROM CHARLESTON SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY.

Whereas, the title of Professor Emeritus in History and Political Science was conferred upon Dr. Gerald R. Hasty by Charleston Southern University in May, 1990; and

Whereas, Dr. Hasty was a distinguished scholar and dedicated professor of history and political science at Charleston Southern University from 1974 until his retirement in 1986; and

Whereas, Dr. Hasty received a master's degree in business administration from Bradley University, a master's degree and a doctorate in political science from American University, and a law degree from the Blackstone School of Law; and

Whereas, Dr. Hasty also served a long and distinguished career in the United States Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, before joining the faculty at Charleston Southern; and

Whereas, Dr. Hasty was devoted to his students and was an outstanding teacher who was very highly regarded and admired by all who knew him; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize the distinguished career and honor conferred upon Dr. Gerald R. Hasty. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Gerald R. Hasty for being honored as Professor Emeritus in History and Political Science by Charleston Southern University and recognize Dr. Hasty for his dedication and distinguished career.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Gerald R. Hasty, 1282 Winchester Drive, Charleston, South Carolina.
