A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXTENDING HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. ANNIE BELL STONE OF UNION COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY.

Whereas, Mrs. Annie Bell Stone of Union County turns one hundred years "young" on March 10, 1991; and

Whereas, Mrs. Stone began teaching school in the fall of 1908 at Oak Grove School -- a one-room schoolhouse in the Santuc Township -- and taught a total of twenty-one years before retiring; and

Whereas, she has been a member of Foster's Chapel United Methodist Church since 1911, has been active in the church's Missionary Society and in the Home Demonstration Club, and is a member of the Retired Teachers Association; and

Whereas, she is a delightful lady and is highly respected and admired; and

Whereas, turning one hundred is a definite milestone -- one of the most important occasions an individual can hope to mark; and

Whereas, we want Mrs. Stone to know how happy we are for her and that we wish her many, many years of happiness to come. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend heartiest congratulations to Mrs. Annie Bell Stone of Union County on the occasion of her one hundredth birthday.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Stone.
