TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE INSURANCE DEPARTMENT, RELATING TO MERIT RATING PLAN, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1257, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina.:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Insurance Department, relating to Merit Rating Plan, designated as Regulation Document Number 1257, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
This regulation amends existing Regulation 69-13.1 to make it consistent with recent statutory changes. In response to legislative directives, the regulation has been amended to increase the mandatory safe driver discount from 15% to 20%, and the list of accidents/violations for which no surcharge points may be assigned has been expanded to include first offense failure to have a taillight in good working order and first offense driving too fast for conditions.
