TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS, RELATING TO ADJUSTMENT OF DOLLAR AMOUNTS, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1304, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Department of Consumer Affairs, relating to Adjustment of Dollar Amounts, designated as Regulation Document Number 1304, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
This regulation rebases the historical index series to a new reference base for determining changes in the consumer price index. The regulation also increases the dollar amounts in the South Carolina Consumer Protection Code sections by one hundred percent as indicated on July 1, 1990, in accordance with Section 37-1-109. This is a ten percent increase over the last regulation effective July 1, 1988.
