TO COMMEND MRS. LEOTA S. LITTLEJOHN OF GAFFNEY FOR HER DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AS CHEROKEE COUNTY EXTENSION DIRECTOR UPON HER RETIREMENT.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that Mrs. Leota S. Littlejohn will be retiring as Cherokee County Extension Director in June of this year; and
Whereas, she has served with distinction for thirty-two years in the county extension program, thirty-one of which have been in Cherokee County and nine of which have been as county extension director; and
Whereas, this lovely and gracious lady was born in Anderson County, holds an undergraduate degree in home economics from South Carolina State College, and has completed graduate work at both South Carolina State College and Michigan State University; and
Whereas, in addition to her professional duties, Mrs. Littlejohn has been an active and respected civic, community, and church leader in Gaffney and Cherokee County; and
Whereas, she helped start the "Adopt a Highway" program in Cherokee County, was instrumental in the success of the 4H program, and served her community in countless other ways as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, the Alzheimer Support Group, the Gaffney Ladies Professional Club, the South Carolina State Employees Association, and the South Carolina Association of Extension Home Economists; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this truly outstanding South Carolinian for her remarkable service to her county and State upon her retirement from this office. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mrs. Leota S. Littlejohn of Gaffney for her distinguished service as Cherokee County Extension Director upon her retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Littlejohn.
