A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE IRMO HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS AND BOYS TENNIS TEAMS FOR WINNING THE 1990 AND 1991 STATE CLASS AAAA CHAMPIONSHIPS, RESPECTIVELY.

Whereas, on November 3, 1990, the Irmo High School girls tennis team defeated a fine Spring Valley team 4-2 to win the 1990 State Class AAAA girls tennis championship; and

Whereas, on Saturday, May 11, 1991, the Irmo High School boys tennis team defeated a very talented Richland Northeast team 4-3 to win the 1991 State Class AAAA boys tennis championship; and

Whereas, Bill Porter coached the boys and girls tennis teams, and it is a tribute to his coaching skills and leadership abilities that both Yellow Jacket tennis teams won state championships this school year; and

Whereas, the accomplishments of the Irmo boys and girls teams this year and the manner they conducted themselves on and off the court have brought deserved credit not only upon each member of the teams and the coaching staff but upon their school, county, and State, as well; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this talented group of young men and women upon winning both of these truly deserved championships. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the Irmo High School girls and boys tennis teams for winning the 1990 and 1991 State Class AAAA championships, respectively.

Be it further resolved that the members of the Irmo High School girls and boys tennis teams and Coach Bill Porter shall be recognized for their accomplishments on Tuesday, May 21, 1991, in the Hall of the House of Representatives at a time to be determined by the Speaker and shall be given the privilege of the floor on this occasion.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Porter and the principal of Irmo High School.
