TO COMMEND MRS. BERNICE H. BROWN OF THE DORCHESTER COMMUNITY IN DORCHESTER COUNTY FOR HER THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF OUTSTANDING WORK WITH THE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY EXTENSION SERVICE UPON HER RETIREMENT EARLIER THIS YEAR.
Whereas, on November 30, 1990, Mrs. Bernice H. Brown of the Dorchester community in Dorchester County retired as the County Extension Director of the Clemson University Extension Service after a distinguished and rewarding thirty-four year career; and
Whereas, Bernice Brown was born in Eastover, South Carolina, and graduated from Burke High School in Charleston. She received a B.S. degree in Home Economics from South Carolina State College in Orangeburg in 1956, joined the Clemson University Extension staff in the same year, and later received an M. S. degree in Education from State College in 1966; and
Whereas, as Dorchester County Extension Director, she was responsible for all administrative matters and the delivery of the total extension program, and also worked with the Extension Homemakers Clubs and the Dorchester County Extension Homemakers Council; and
Whereas, during her tenure as County Extension Director, she had a farm family from the St. Paul community win the Family of the Year Award, and had a number of 4-H club members win county, State, and national awards; and
Whereas, she somehow also found the time together with her husband to raise two fine children and be a stalwart member of the St. Paul AME Church to which she has belonged for so many years; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this lovely lady for her unselfish and valuable service to Dorchester County and the State of South Carolina as a member of the Clemson University Extension Service upon her retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mrs. Bernice H. Brown of the Dorchester community in Dorchester County for her thirty-four years of outstanding work with the Clemson University Extension Service upon her retirement earlier this year.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Brown.
