A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO PUBLICLY RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MISSY FRANKLIN OF NEWBERRY FOR HER OUTSTANDING WORK WITH THE COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING AND FOR HER OTHER UNSELFISH SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY AND COUNTY OF NEWBERRY.

Whereas, Newberry County is fortunate to have one of the most unselfish and community-minded citizens of South Carolina in Missy Franklin; and

Whereas, she has worked tirelessly with the Newberry County Council on Aging and her work with the Council on Aging encompasses many different facets including:

(1) Coordination and publishing the newsletter "Reflections" through which the community is informed of what the Council on Aging has to offer the elderly;

(2) performing pet therapy with the elderly;

(3) transporting the elderly to and from local stores to make sure they have all necessities;

(4) working with Home-Delivered Meals which is a program that provides nutrition and social contact to those who are homebound;

(5) working with the Respite Program which provides relief to those who provide round-the-clock care for ill or disabled persons;

(6) working with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) which is a group of volunteers who serve nonprofit private and public community organizations;

(7) working with Case Management which is a process of comprehensive planning, coordination and monitoring of services to ensure that appropriate services are provided to meet the client's needs; and

(8) working with the Newberry County Alzheimer's Support Group; and

Whereas, she somehow finds time to be an active member of the Newberry Jaycees where she has chaired or co-chaired several projects and has received many awards; and

Whereas, she also works with the Animal Protection League to inform the community of animal rights and needs and personally has taken in over forty abandoned or orphaned animals; and

Whereas, Missy Franklin's loving and willing service to her community, as above noted, is a source of pride for the Newberry community and serves as an example for others to follow; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this truly outstanding lady for all that she has done to make the City and County of Newberry a better place to live and work. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby publicly recognize and commend Missy Franklin of Newberry for her outstanding work with the County Council on Aging and for her other unselfish service to the people of the City and County of Newberry.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Missy Franklin.
