EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE MEMBERS AND MANAGEMENT OF FIELDCREST CANNON'S LANDRUM WOVEN PLANT ON RECEIVING THE COMPANY'S CARPET AND RUG DIVISION 1991 TOP SAFETY AWARD.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were pleased to note that in ceremonies on March 3, 1992, the employees of the Fieldcrest Cannon Landrum Woven Plant were recipients of the company's carpet and rug division's 1991 President's Safety Award. This coveted award was presented by Division President, Mr. Jack Riley, who noted that the Landrum Woven Plant has a long history of outstanding safety, winning the President's Award in 1985 and also in 1988; and
Whereas, since 1970 the plant's two hundred employees have worked more than five million safe work hours completing one million hours in 1970 and 1985, two million in 1986, and are currently nearing completion of another one million safe work hours; and
Whereas, the dedicated employees and management of this plant have achieved a safety record that consistently scores ninety-three to ninety-eight percent on company safety audits, culminating in a most recent audit in which the plant scored a ninety-nine and nine-tenths safety record; and
Whereas, this record is a tribute to the dedication of the employees and managerial staff to the cause of worker health and safety, a dedication that results in a highly productive work force manufacturing an outstanding quality product; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so that they might note this achievement of the workers in an industry so vital to the economic life of the State and the Nation. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express congratulations to the employees and management of Fieldcrest Cannon's Landrum Woven Plan on receiving the company's carpet and rug division 1991 top safety award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Plant Manager.
