EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF COLONEL JULIAN WALTER DAVIS, SR., OF OCONEE COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Whereas, Colonel Julian Walter Davis, Sr., of Oconee County died August 21, 1990; and
Whereas, he was a graduate of The Citadel, served as a member of General Patton's Army taking part in the famous "Battle of the Bulge", and received a Bronze Star with oak leaf cluster for his service in the war; and
Whereas, Colonel Davis was a distinguished educator and served the State and his community, first, as a teacher and then principal, and also as president of the Oconee Chapter of the Retired Teachers Association; and
Whereas, he was dedicated to his community and church and served on the boards of the Anderson/Oconee Council on Aging and the Tribble Center. He was an outstanding individual who was very highly regarded and admired by all who knew him; and
Whereas, he was a devoted husband and loving father and was married for fifty-six years to Louise Davis; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly want his family and friends to know that they have been in their thoughts and have their sincerest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Colonel Julian Walter Davis, Sr., of Seneca and extend sympathy to his family and friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Colonel Davis' widow, Mrs. Louise Myers Davis of the Oakway Community of Oconee County.
