To whom was referred a Bill (S. 768), to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section 50-11-55 so as to prohibit the injuring or wounding of wildlife, etc., respectfully

That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-11-55 SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE INJURING OR WOUNDING OF WILDLIFE WITHOUT ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE IT AND TAKE IT INTO POSSESSION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 50-11-55. It is unlawful for a person to wound or injure wildlife when attempting to take it and to fail to make a reasonable attempt to locate the wildlife and take it into possession. A person who violates the provisions of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be imprisoned not more than thirty days or fined not more than two hundred dollars."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
