A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE REVEREND MRS. BRODIE REEVES JOHNSON OF WEST COLUMBIA IN LEXINGTON COUNTY.

Whereas, Reverend Mrs. Brodie Reeves Johnson died on Tuesday, February 15, 1994; and

Whereas, Mrs. Johnson, a resident of West Columbia, was born on May 14, 1916, in Chapin, the daughter of Mr. Joe Reeves and Mrs. Minnie Mayers Reeves; and

Whereas, she was a faithful member of Stonewall Holiness Church in Chapin, where she served as the assistant pastor for many years; and

Whereas, she was the dedicated and devoted housekeeper for the Joe Graves and his grandson, Senator Joe Wilson, family for forty years prior to her retirement; and

Whereas Pastor Johnson was the devoted and loving wife of Elder Johnnie Lee Johnson for fifty-five years, having been married in Chapin; and

Whereas, she leaves to cherish her precious memory: her husband, Elder Johnnie Lee Johnson; two sisters, Mrs. Golese Long of Chapin, S. C., and Mrs. Sadie Mills, of Washington, D. C.; a brother, Mr. Waldo Reeves, of Chapin, S. C.; three sisters-in-law: Mrs. Mary Reeves of Columbia, S. C., Rev. Mable Reeves of Hilton, S. C., and Mrs. Addie Mae Reeves of Chapin, S. C.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Silas Patterson of Chapin, S. C., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends, all of whom join with the family in sharing the grief caused by her departure for she will be sadly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate express sympathy to the family and many friends of the late Reverend Mrs. Brodie Reeves Johnson of West Columbia in Lexington County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Johnson's husband, Elder Johnnie Lee Johnson.
