TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF OFFICER THOMAS C. "TOMMY" HARRISON, SR., OF THE CITY OF ORANGEBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT UPON HIS TRAGIC DEATH IN THE LINE OF DUTY ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 15, 1993.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Officer Thomas C. "Tommy" Harrison, Sr., of the City of Orangeburg Police Department in the line of duty on Friday, January 15, 1993; and
Whereas, he was a native of Orangeburg, a graduate of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and joined the Police Department of the City of Orangeburg on March 28, 1983, as a police officer, later advancing to the rank of sergeant; and
Whereas, he relinquished an enterprising business opportunity to enter law enforcement with the determination, zeal, and energy to serve and to help; and
Whereas, through ten years of loyal and faithful service, Tommy Harrison diligently and forthrightly protected and defended the lives of the citizens he pledged to serve; and
Whereas, he cared deeply for his family and was a devoted and caring husband, a proud and loving father, and a loyal and respectful son and brother; and
Whereas, this gallant and courageous officer also enjoyed a strong and mutual bond with his fellow officers, strengthened by friendship, companionship, and loyalty. His loss will leave a void in the lives of his family, comrades and friends not easily filled; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere and heartfelt condolences to his wife, son, parents, sisters, and other members of his family in this time of sorrow. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family of Officer Thomas C. "Tommy" Harrison, Sr., of the City of Orangeburg Police Department upon his tragic death in the line of duty on Friday, January 15, 1993.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Kimberly Shaye Harrison.
