AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 50-17-220, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE EXEMPTION FROM LICENSING REQUIREMENTS FOR CAST NETS USED FOR NONCOMMERCIAL PURPOSES AND HAND TONGS USED FOR HARVESTING OYSTERS, SO AS TO REVISE THE FISHING DEVICES WHICH ARE EXEMPTED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Fishing devices exempted from licensing requirements for cast nets and hand-operated devices
SECTION 1. Section 50-17-220 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Section 1265, Act 181 of 1993, is further amended to read:
"Section 50-17-220. Persons using cast nets for noncommercial purposes or hand grabs, tongs, rakes, or other hand-operated devices for taking shellfish for noncommercial purposes as provided in Section 50-17-350 are exempt from the license provisions of Sections 50-17-210 and 50-17-215."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
