TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE TO PATSY MATTHEWS, REGISTERED NURSE, OF NORTH AUGUSTA, FOR CARING FOR BRAD CLEO COUCH DURING HIS RECOVERY.
Whereas, Brad Cleo Couch was born on January 4, 1992, after placental separation; and
Whereas, his birth was premature by one hundred days, he weighed one pound and fourteen ounces, and he suffered from a heart condition and breathing difficulties; and
Whereas, when Brad was eleven days old his doctors were forced to perform open heart surgery, then a tracheotomy and two other major surgical procedures; and
Whereas, on July 7, 1992, Brad was released from the hospital to go home with his parents Brady and Caroline Smith Couch and maternal grandparents Representative and Mrs. J. Roland Smith; and
Whereas, since that time Patsy Matthews has been providing nursing care to Brad allowing his parents to continue to work; and
Whereas, Ms. Matthews became a licensed practical nurse in 1983 and a registered nurse in 1991; and
Whereas, Ms. Matthews has been dedicated to her work, has made sacrifices to care for Brad, and has shown great compassion to the entire family; and
Whereas, Brad, called the "miracle baby", is being released from the care his doctors and has recovered extremely well; and
Whereas, Ms. Matthew's assistance is greatly appreciated. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly express their gratitude to Patsy Matthews, Registered Nurse, of North Augusta, for caring for Brad Cleo Couch during his recovery.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Patsy Matthews, 205 Deerwood Drive, North Augusta, South Carolina 29841.
