TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 40-28-195 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR CONTINUING EDUCATION TO RENEW A LICENSE AS LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 40-28-195. To qualify for license renewal as a landscape architect, the licensee must have completed a minimum of fifteen contact hours of continuing education approved by the board within the previous license year. The Landscape Architect Advisory Council shall recommend to the board regulations governing the administration of the continuing education requirements.
Documentation of compliance with this section must be by affidavit provided on the application for license renewal. Erroneous or false information attested to by the licensee is grounds for denial of license renewal and possible suspension of license or denial of consideration for future license reinstatement."
SECTION 2. The continuing education requirements of Section 40-28-195 apply effective January 1, 1994, to persons renewing their license in 1995.
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
