CONGRATULATING ROGER MILLIKEN, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF MILLIKEN & COMPANY IN SPARTANBURG, ON HIS INDUCTION INTO THE SOUTH CAROLINA HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, Roger Milliken is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Milliken & Company in Spartanburg; and
Whereas, Milliken & Company, a major textile manufacturer, has long been recognized for its leadership in research, technology, quality, and services and was the recipient, in 1990, of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award; and
Whereas, Mr. Milliken is an outstanding, dynamic businessman who has received numerous honors and awards over the years for his talent and abilities and is known and admired internationally for his contributions in the business sphere; and
Whereas, he was inducted into the South Carolina Hall of Fame on February 1, 1993 -- a very high honor deserving of recognition and congratulations; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Hall of Fame Trustees include the following persons: Mr. Robert J. (Bob) Hirsch; Mr. Ben Hornsby, Jr.; Dr. George Vogt; Ms. Alexia Helsley; Mr. Ashby Ward; Mr. Hurley Badders; Mr. Fred P. Brinkman; Mr. Lambert (Lambo) Schwartz; Mrs. Tempe Oehler; Mr. Gurdon L. Tarbox, Jr.; Mr. James (Jim) Branham; Mr. Rodger E. Stroup; Mrs. Malcolm Marion; Mrs. Alester G. Furman, III; the Honorable Alex Harvin, III; Ms. Kelly Joyner; Mr. Bill Lawrence; Mr. John C. Blythe, Jr.; Dr. Leo Twiggs; Mrs. Ann Edwards; and Marilyn Chewning. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Roger Milliken, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Milliken & Company in Spartanburg, on his induction into the South Carolina Hall of Fame.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Milliken and to each of the South Carolina Hall of Fame Trustees named in this resolution.
