TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-101-210 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE MINIMUM SALARY SCHEDULE FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS OR ADMINISTRATORS APPLIES TO ACADEMIC FACULTY OF STATE INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING WHEN THE PROFESSIONAL OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-101-210. The state minimum salary schedule for certified teachers or administrators, as provided by Section 59-20-50, must be applied to academic faculty employed by state institutions of higher learning when the faculty member meets the professional or educational requirement specified by Section 59-20-50."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
