A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. ROBERT "BOB" REDDICK, SR., OF CAYCE, A WIDELY RESPECTED TRUCKING INDUSTRY EXECUTIVE, UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Mr. Robert "Bob" Reddick, Sr., of Cayce; and

Whereas, Bob Reddick was a native South Carolinian who began his career in the transportation industry in 1931. During his career he was associated with the giants of the trucking industry in South Carolina, including Transportation, Inc., a division of Barnwell Brothers, Southern Transportation, Cooper Motor Lines, Laney Truck Lines, which later became Kenan Transport, from which he retired as senior vice-president; and

Whereas, he was also instrumental in the development of the South Carolina Trucking Association (SCTA). He was a former president, former member of the board of directors, and served as director emeritus of the association. His political skills and close association with key state governmental entities contributed significantly to the outstanding reputation of the association. In addition, he was a stabilizing force during his career between the South Carolina Public Service Commission and the SCTA and its membership; and

Whereas, throughout his life, Bob Reddick earned the lasting respect of those with whom he came into contact, as evidenced by his selection as Motor Carrier Executive of the Year for the State of South Carolina in 1989 and by his receipt of the Charles W. Sharpe Award; and

Whereas, with the death of this fine man, the people of West Columbia, Lexington County, and the State of South Carolina have lost a widely regarded business leader, a man dedicated to his family and community, and a good friend; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their deepest sympathy to his wife, children, other members of his family, and many friends upon his death. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Robert "Bob" Reddick, Sr., of Cayce, a widely respected trucking industry executive, upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Theresa Reddick.
