TO COMMEND TAIKA SEIYU OYATA ON JANUARY 29, 1994, FOR HIS ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE MARTIAL ARTS AND HIS POSITIVE INFLUENCE ON THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Taika Seiyu Oyata has been recognized by the Okinawan government as a Master of the Okinawan Martial Arts;
Whereas, Mr. Oyata has been a resident of the United States since 1977; and
Whereas, for the past fifteen years he has been teaching martial arts; and
Whereas, teaching brings him to South Carolina several times a year; and
Whereas, he influences many South Carolinians by instilling values and the ideals of community service above oneself; and
Whereas, these teachings benefit the citizens of this State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives wish to commend Taika Seiyu Oyata on January 29, 1994, for his achievements in the martial arts and his positive influence on the citizens of the State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Oyata.
