House Bill 4545 amends Section 23-6-100 of South Carolina Code of Laws, 1976, relating to the Highway Patrol Division and the State Police Division within the Department of Public Safety and the requirement for filing, among other things, a description and illustration of the Official Highway Patrol Uniform, so as to delete the requirement that these filings be made with the Secretary of State's Office.

There is no estimated fiscal impact to the General Fund of the State.

A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 23-6-100, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE HIGHWAY PATROL DIVISION AND THE STATE POLICE DIVISION WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE REQUIREMENT FOR FILING, AMONG OTHER THINGS, A DESCRIPTION AND ILLUSTRATION OF THE OFFICIAL HIGHWAY PATROL UNIFORM, SO AS TO DELETE THE REQUIREMENT THAT THESE FILINGS BE MADE WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 23-6-100(D) of the 1976 Code, as added by Section 343 of Act 181 of 1993, is amended to read:

"(D) The director shall file with the Secretary of State and Legislative Council for publication in the State Register a description and illustration of the official highway patrol uniform with insignia and the emblems of the official highway patrol and motor vehicles including a description of the color of such uniforms and vehicles and a description and illustration of the official state police uniform with insignia and the emblems of the official state police and motor vehicles including a description of the color of such uniforms and vehicles."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
