A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-29-15 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ALL NINTH GRADE STUDENTS DURING THE REGULAR SCHOOL TERM MUST TAKE A ONE SEMESTER COURSE IN TYPEWRITING AND KEYBOARDING OFFERED AND CONDUCTED BY THEIR SCHOOL OR SCHOOL DISTRICT.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-29-15. All ninth grade students during the regular school term must take a one semester course in typewriting and keyboarding offered and conducted by their school or school district. The State Department of Education shall specify the required content of the typewriting and keyboarding course."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
