A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MARY COOPER OF MANNING ON BEING NAMED THE 1993 REGIONAL HEAD START TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, Mary Cooper of Manning has been named the 1993 Regional Head Start Teacher of the Year and thus has become the first South Carolinian to win the award for the region, which includes all Head Start teachers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky; and

Whereas, as a regional winner, Ms. Cooper's name will be submitted to the Federal Administration for Children and Families to be considered for Head Start's National Teacher of the Year award, to be chosen from among the winners in each of the administration's ten regions, its American Indian Branch, and its Migrant Branch; and

Whereas, Ms. Cooper is an excellent Head Start teacher who loves her work and the children whom the program benefits; and

Whereas, Ms. Cooper has won the respect and admiration of all who know her, has brought great honor upon the State of South Carolina by her regional award, and is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Mary Cooper of Manning on being named the 1993 Regional Head Start Teacher of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Cooper.
