A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-29-75 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SHALL DEVELOP A COURSE IN PARENTING WHICH EACH HIGH SCHOOL OF THIS STATE SHALL TEACH TO ALL STUDENTS BEGINNING WITH THE 1993-94 SCHOOL YEAR.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 59-29-75. The State Department of Education shall develop a course in parenting which each high school of this State shall teach to all students beginning with the 1993-94 school year. The department is authorized by regulation to implement the provisions of this section."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
