A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MS. CARTER NEWMAN OF ANDERSON COUNTY ON BEING SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE 1994 CAROLINIANA AWARD AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN COLUMBIA.

Whereas, Ms. Carter Newman of Anderson County, a senior at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, has been selected to receive the 1994 Caroliniana Award at the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the award is presented to nine students who are the tireless "behind-the-scenses" workers who help to make every student organization a success; the intent of the award at its inception was to honor students who are not otherwise recognized for the things they do for the USC community; and

Whereas, Ms. Newman was presented her award in April, 1994, at the Student Leader/Advisor Reception in the Russell House ballroom on the USC campus in Columbia; and

Whereas, she is an excellent student having posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average for fall semester 1993; and

Whereas, she is a 1990 graduate of T. L. Hanna High School in Anderson and is the daughter of Beverly and Everette Newman; and

Whereas, she is an outstanding individual, and we are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize her. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Ms. Carter Newman of Anderson County on being selected to receive the 1994 Caroliniana Award at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Newman.
