EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE ADDIE LUCAS STEVENSON SPENCE OF LEXINGTON COUNTY.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to note the passing of Addie Lucas Stevenson Spence of Lexington County beloved mother of U. S. Representative Floyd Spence, Allan Spence, R.O. (Buck) Stevenson, Juanita Jane Smith, and Anna Clement; and
Whereas, this great lady in a long life exemplified those virtues and values that have contributed to the greatness of this state and nation; and
Whereas, Mrs. Spence served loyally as a member of the Home Demonstration Club of Lexington, the Golden Age Club, and Lake Murray Community Club, and as a communicant of St. Peter's Lutheran Church; and
Whereas, she is survived by loving daughters and sons, a sister, Lois Beach; grandchildren, David Spence, Zack Spence, Ben Spence, Caldwell Spence, Allan Johnson Spence, Jr., Michael Stephen Spence, James Otto Spence, Russell Patrick Spence, Jodi C. Chumley, Ronald Clement, and Donald Clement; and great-grandchildren, Drake Spence, Courtney Spence, Lauren Spence, Clint Spence, Brooke Spence, Sean Allan Spence, William Joshua Spence, and Brittany Anne Chumley; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the Senate to pause in its deliberations so that Senators may reflect on the life of this great daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express sympathy to the famiy and many friends of the late Addie Lucas Stevenson Spence of Lexington County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Congressman Floyd Spence.
