A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO MRS. FANNIE LOUISE VERMONT HOLCOMBE OF SPARTANBURG IN SPARTANBURG COUNTY ON BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA'S 1993 MOTHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were delighted to note that Mrs. Fannie Louise Vermont Holcombe of Spartanburg in Spartanburg County was named South Carolina's 1993 Mother of the year; and

Whereas, Mrs. Holcombe, the first Spartanburg resident to be named Mother of the Year in the award's fifty-two year history, also is nominated to be recognized as National Mother of the Year, a person chosen from the winners of each state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico; and

Whereas, the recognition brought by this great honor is for the purpose of strengthening the moral and spiritual foundations of the family and home, attributes for which Mrs. Holcombe may be held up as an example for all South Carolinians and, indeed, all Americans; and

Whereas, as Mrs. Holcombe will be honored in Spartanburg, which has proclaimed March 24, 1993, as Fannie Louise Vermont Holcombe Day, it is therefore particularly appropriate that the Senate pause in its deliberations so that its members may add their voices in expressing their congratulations and best wishes to so extraordinary a daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate: That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, express congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Fannie Louise Vermont Holcombe of Spartanburg in Spartanburg County for being named South Carolina's 1993 Mother of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Holcombe.
