CONGRATULATING TROOPER FIRST CLASS WILLIAM LOWELL HERRINGTON, JR., OF COLUMBIA, ON BEING SELECTED AS THE "SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY TROOPER OF THE YEAR" FOR 1992 BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA PETROLEUM COUNCIL.
Whereas, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is composed of men and women dedicated to the protection and safety of the people of South Carolina; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Highway Patrol has received many national and regional awards testifying to the patrol's excellence and national leadership in public safety and proficiency; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Petroleum Council presents annually the "South Carolina Highway Trooper of the Year" award to the highway trooper who best typifies the dedication, devotion, and proficiency of the South Carolina Highway Patrol; and
Whereas, Trooper First Class William Lowell Herrington, Jr., of Columbia, has been selected as the "South Carolina Highway Trooper of the Year" for 1992, the twenty-fourth trooper to be so honored since the program began in 1968; and
Whereas, Trooper Herrington, of Patrol District One, was selected to be so honored from a field of nine "district patrolmen of the year"; and
Whereas, the people of South Carolina are proud of Trooper Herrington and of all the men and women of the South Carolina Highway Patrol who render such excellent service on a continuing basis; and
Whereas, Trooper Herrington's selection for the award is an honor highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Trooper First Class William Lowell Herrington, Jr., of Columbia, on being selected as the "South Carolina Highway Trooper of the Year" for 1992 by the South Carolina Petroleum Council.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Trooper Herrington: the South Carolina Petroleum Council, in care of Mr. William F. Ross, Suite 250, The Textile Building, 1340 Bull Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29201; and the executive director of the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation.
