A BILL

TO AMEND ACT 164 OF 1993, RELATING TO THE 1993-94 STATE GENERAL APPROPRIATIONS ACT, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT CAMPUS INCENTIVE PROGRAM FUNDS USED TO PROVIDE A ONE-TIME BONUS TO CLASSROOM TEACHERS SHALL ALSO BE USED TO PROVIDE THE SAME BONUS TO SCHOOL EMPLOYEES CLASSIFIED AS EVALUATORS; AND TO MAKE THE ABOVE PROVISIONS ALSO APPLICABLE FOR FISCAL YEAR 1993-94.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Paragraph 20A.12, Section 20, Part I of Act 164 of 1993 is amended to read:

"20A.12. (EIA - Campus Incentive Program) $11,500,000 of the Campus Incentive Program funds shall be distributed as a one-time bonus to classroom teachers as defined by the Department of Education position codes 03 through 11, 85, 18, 36 through 40. No teacher who receives a bonus as a state employee is eligible for this bonus. Bonuses for federally funded teachers must be paid from federal funds.

School employees classified as evaluators by Department of Education position code 75 also shall receive a bonus in the same amount paid to classroom teachers, and the funds for this bonus shall also be paid from Campus Incentive Program Funds. No school evaluator who receives a bonus as a state employee is eligible for this bonus. Bonuses for federally funded school evaluators must be paid from federal funds. The bonus authorized by the provisions of this paragraph applies for fiscal year 1993-94 and must be paid within thirty days after the effective date of this paragraph."

SECTION 2. The provisions of Paragraph 20A.12, Section 20, Part I of Act 164 of 1993, as amended by Section 1 of this act, are retroactive to July 1, 1993.

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
