The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.

Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark as follows:

Almighty God, Whose love for us never ends, may the thoughts of our minds be channels of Your way. May the dreams of our thoughts fulfill Your gracious and holy purposes. May our efforts weed out injustice and cultivate seeds that flower into peace among mankind. Give us courage enough to be trailblazers in brotherhood, holding high the hands of all who seek to end strife. To this end, guide us; enable us in the pursuits of Your ways.

Make our daily prayer be that of the Psalmist when he wrote: "From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's Name be praised." (Psalm 113:3) Amen.

After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
