A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE JOHN LANDRUM FOR BEING NAMED 1995 LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA LIBRARY ASSOCIATION.

Whereas, John Landrum, a native of Greenwood, was named Librarian of the Year this past December by the South Carolina Library Association for his dedicated and innovative work in his profession; and

Whereas, Mr. Landrum, active in professional organizations, is past president of the South Carolina Library Association and currently serves as president of Palmetto Archives, Libraries and Museum Council on Preservation; and

Whereas, Mr. Landrum began his State Library service as a reference librarian in 1967 and has been deputy director since 1985; and

Whereas, as deputy director, Mr. Landrum has played a key role in the automation of the State Library, in the development of the highly successful South Carolina Library Network, and in providing the highly-praised information services to state government agencies; and

Whereas, Mr. Landrum is credited with the development of the State Library's strategic plan and has taken advantage of developing technologies to better deliver information and services to the many South Carolinians who rely on the State Library. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize Mr. John Landrum for his dedicated work with the State Library and congratulate him for being named 1995 Librarian of the Year by the South Carolina Library Association.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. John Landrum.
