AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 16-9-340, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE OFFENSE OF INTIMIDATING COURT OFFICIALS, JURORS, OR WITNESSES, SO AS TO INCREASE THE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Penalty increased
SECTION 1. Section 16-9-340(B) of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 184 of 1993, is further amended to read:
"(B) A person who violates the provisions of subsection (A) is guilty of a felony and, upon conviction, must be fined not more than ten thousand dollars or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
