CONGRATULATING SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL OF RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO FOR BEING SELECTED A "BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL" BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.
Whereas, on February 8, 1996, it was announced that Spring Valley High School of Richland County School District Two has received the nation's highest honor for individual schools, selection as a "Blue Ribbon School" by the United States Department of Education; and
Whereas, this is the second time Spring Valley High has won this prestigious award and the honor reflects the very high academic standards of this outstanding secondary school; and
Whereas, Dr. Ron Cowden is the school's principal and he is a shining example of the dedication and success of Spring Valley's faculty and staff. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Spring Valley High School of Richland County School District Two for being selected a "Blue Ribbon School" by the United States Department of Education.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Spring Valley High School.
