A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE LYNDON AMICK OF BATESBURG FOR WINNING THE DAYTONA USA 200 STOCK CAR RACE HELD ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1996, WHICH AT THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN MAKES HIM THE YOUNGEST DRIVER EVER TO WIN A NASCAR RACE AT DAYTONA.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very proud and thrilled to learn that Lyndon Amick of Batesburg won the International Daytona USA 200 stock car race on Friday, February 16, 1996; and

Whereas, Lyndon Amick is an eighteen-year-old freshman at Newberry College, and this win which was also his first Goody's Dash Series victory makes him the youngest driver ever to win a NASCAR race at Daytona International Speedway; and

Whereas, for a young man to accomplish such a feat after only thirty-six races overall and only two races at Daytona brings deserved credit not only upon him but upon his family, community, and State as well; and

Whereas, this fantastic win hopefully will be the first of many to come for this very talented young man; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate Lyndon Amick upon the occasion of this wonderful accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate Lyndon Amick of Batesburg for winning the Daytona USA 200 stock car race held on Friday, February 16, 1996, which at the age of eighteen makes him the youngest driver ever to win a NASCAR race at Daytona.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Lyndon Amick.
