RECOGNIZING THE SOUTH CAROLINA COMMISSION FOR THE BLIND ON THE OCCASION OF ITS THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
Whereas, the South Carolina Commission for the Blind was established in 1966 for the purpose of rehabilitating the legally blind and those who have eye conditions that will lead to blindness and to prevent blindness wherever possible; and
Whereas, for three decades the commission has labored to accomplish these goals and has helped many people; and
Whereas, the commissioner of this outstanding state agency is Donald Gist and the seven commission members are E. Lynn W. Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Earlene Gardner of Montmorenci, Horace J. McGee of Seneca, Donald K. League of Greenville, Stella G. Williams of Lancaster, Robert M. Harrelson of Mullins, and Oliver H. Willis of Roebuck; and
Whereas, we are delighted to have this opportunity to accord special recognition to the South Carolina Commission for the Blind. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes the South Carolina Commission for the Blind on the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Commissioner Donald Gist and the members of the commission.
