A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF WILLIAM A. (BILLY) REEL, MAYOR OF EDGEFIELD, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, William A. (Billy) Reel, Mayor of Edgefield, has died at the age of seventy-seven; and

Whereas, Mayor Reel had served in the South Carolina House of Representatives twice, once for eight years and the second time for four years; he served as Edgefield's mayor twice, two years in the late 1940's and again for the past ten years; he also served in the South Carolina Senate in the mid-1960's; and

Whereas, he was a veteran of World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church of Edgefield; and

Whereas, for the past fifty years Billy Reel was an outstanding and devoted public servant; his contributions to his community, his county, his State, and his nation were many and significant; he was respected, admired, and loved by all who knew him; and his presence will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of William A. (Billy) Reel, Mayor of Edgefield, and extends sympathy to his family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mayor Reel's family.
