A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEP SYMPATHY OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF D. T. ATKINSON, SR., OF NORTH AUGUSTA AT HIS DEATH ON FEBRUARY 3, 1998.

Whereas, D. T. Atkinson, Sr., of North Augusta died on February 3, 1998; and

Whereas, the eighty-four-year-old native of Edgefield was a retired printer with Clearwater Finishing Plant, a division of United Merchants and Manufacturing; and

Whereas, Mr. Atkinson was a faithful member of the Joy Sunday School Class and a trusted deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church; and

Whereas, he was much loved and will be sorely missed by his wife, Rita Toole Atkinson, his son, D. T. Atkinson, Jr., and his daughter, Karen Atkinson Blackburn, all of North Augusta; three sisters; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina wish to acknowledge the passing of one of this state's fine citizens. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That members of the Senate of South Carolina do hereby express their deep sympathy to the family and friends of D. T. Atkinson, Sr., of North Augusta at his death on February 3, 1998.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. D. T. Atkinson, Sr.
